Up for sale is a really nice USGI WW1 WINCHESTER Model of 1917 barreled receiver that has been Sporterized. This model is also called the M1917 or P17 or American Enfield. This piece has a barrel that is 20 3/8 inches long from tip to receiver. The rifling is strong but the bore is dirty. The scope taps have been tested and are fully functional. In also tested the threads of the trigger guard trunions and they were also fully serviceable. The finish is nice with some wear and use blemishes. This Winchester is from some of the first ones made (early 1917) and has the star stamp and really low serial number. Probably saw action in WWI. It’s really too bad someone bubba’d this one up but they did a really nice job.
This would make a perfect build platform for a truck or brush gun for slaying hogs and deer. The parts to complete a build like this are cheap and plentiful if you know where to look for them. The US Gov made MILLIONS of them.
If you are local to the Argyle / Denton area and want to take a look at it just message me and we can make that arrangement. Payment must be made in cash if purchasing.
